Welcome to Downton Motor Club
Downton Motor Club is more than just a car club - our heritage can be traced back to the days of the world famous Downton Engineering Works, who were responsible for tuning services, preparing race cars and building special engines during the golden age of British motoring. Motorsport is still in our DNA.
Throughout the year we have our own fantastic set of 'Speed' Championships with qualifying events at major motorsport venues across the country - these championship events offer a range of motorsport thrills and all at a reasonable cost.

Downton Motor Club social get together - Wednesday 4th March at 7.00pm. Venue - Willett Arms, 2 Oakley Hill, Oakley, Wimborne BH21 1RN
Kick off the new season over a beer at the Willett Arms - start about 7.00ish. Our recent Facebook poll had Wimborne as our preferred location for a club get together so once again we are sampling fine delicacies such as Doombar and Timothy Taylor ales at the Willett Arms.
For our new members this is a great chance to meet the committee and some of our seasoned competitors - feel free to ask any questions you may have about the 2026 season. If you are a new member then just look for a shifty crowd of petrol heads gathered around the bar and say "hello" - you will be made most welcome. If the bar is busy then we usually head out on to the covered patio under the heaters. Remember to bring a jacket if it's cold :-).
A good selection of food and bar snacks are available at the Willett Arms - check out the full menu on the Willett Arms website. As this is just a social event you are welcome to invite your friends or partner(s) along for a natter and a bite to eat.
We are also hoping to have some samples of our 2026 branded merchandise available for you to look at - If you like what you see then I'm sure Paul will be able to give you all the details on size, colour, prices, ordering, etc

Looking to try some Motorsport?
Downton Motor Club is synonymous with the name ‘Mini’ and continuing in 2026 we have special classes in our Speed Championships for road legal R50 and R53 BMW Minis (Class 4 and 4A). As these are running in a ‘road legal’ format there are no need for fire extinguishers, cut off switches, roll cages or full harnesses.
We have Downton Classes at 30+ events throughout the year - starting in March and going right through until the end of October. The ‘Speed’ calendar typically includes Sprints at famous circuits like Goodwood, Pembrey, Llandow and spectacular hillclimbs at venues like Wiscombe Park, Shelsley Walsh and Prescott - something for everyone.
